Mission & Strategic Priorities

The UMMS Board of Directors has approved a multi-year plan that allows us to prioritize our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

Strategic Priorities:

  • More effectively engage our workforce in these efforts
  • Tackle equity issues System-wide
  • Create more diversity in our procurement process
  • Begin to address challenges of social determinants of health (conditions within a person’s environment that affect health, functioning and quality of life) in the communities we serve

UMMS will invest more than $50 million over the next four years to achieve the goals that leaders from across UMMS have outlined in the UMMS Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Roadmap.

These plans, developed by tapping into the collective resources and talents across the System, include concrete recommendations and timelines.

    Creating access to employment, career path development, professional support services; expanding mentoring opportunities and facilitating crucial, constructive conversations

    Developing a purposeful strategy for expanding the number of minority-owned businesses that we partner with, leveraging our size and scale to create positive economic impact

  • Our Communities

    Working toward corporate, social and economic justice by investing in partnerships outside the walls of our organizations to positively impact the communities we serve
